A blog for musicians? Can such a thing exist? I'm sure it already does in many different formats but I've started my own blog offering advice, tips, techniques, networking assistance and much much more. Forget lengthy blogs with zero information. Forget blogs that promise quick and easy success methods. This blog is designed for musicians who want assistance or advice on various subjects and topics that can help in their every day life as a musician or with their potential career in the music industry. Quick and simple but filled with loads of information that's suitable for musicians. Learn how to market yourself while avoiding common mistakes. Don't waste your valuable time. Sleeping in Sound is all you need to help your musical side sleep at night. SLEEPING IN SOUND2015 has been a very up and down year. I've seen and done so much - luckily its been more good than bad.
I managed to gig with The Osmonds, which was just incredible and I'm so thankful that I got the opportunity and didn't waste it. It was quite stressful but great practice in the grand scheme of things. The business I co-own has gone from strength to strength this year and I'm grateful to the team of people we have working with us. It's been a long and hard path but it's all worth it when you know people and students value your services and knowledge. The Christmas solely from my students was just overwhelming. I got myself featured on David Young and The Midnight Chorus' new album playing Bass Guitar for the entire album. I also supported the amazing Sex Pissed Dolls at The River Rooms in Stourbridge. Finally a massive thank you to The Smooth Criminals as it's been a massive honour to play with some of the best and kind musicians around. All the weddings, birthdays, conferences and parties have been so much fun and it's kept my gigging calendar full all year. Twitter This weekend (7 & 8 November) TMM Academy (Teach Me Music) is having a FREE Taster session event. All instruments are covered, so any new and potential students can come down to our Academy in Kidderminster and have a FREE 30 minute session.
Drums, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Keyboard, Piano, Music theory, Music production, and Vocals/Singing If you wish to rebook then we can discuss this during and after the free session, so no need to worry about the finer details just yet. No instruments required as we have all the equipment set up in our Academy ready. Just get in touch with myself or via the TMM website www.teachmemusic.academy and get yourself booked in NOW. OFFICIAL EVENT ON FACEBOOK David Young and The Midnight Chorus are headlining a show in Wednesbury in November. Its going to be an amazing night of music so please visit the Official Facebook Event page and RSVP if you're coming. We'd love to see as many people as possible so we can turn it into one big hangout with friends, fellow musicians and good people. Just a few photos from our album recording sessions and one of the last gigs we did together. We recently supported Jo Harman at The Robin 2 in Bilston and that was a great gig, lets make this headline show even better. Album release date and further details/single release coming soon. I'm started a transcription service online where musicians regardless of instrument, can ask for scores to any songs. I'm extremely busy running Absolute Music Limited and the Teach Me Music Academy so transcription work will be on as and when I can find the time. If you need scores for gigs, rehearsals or just for private use then drop me a message. I've just finished scoring 8 songs on bass for a client so the amount of songs needed isn't a problem. ![]() Expect to see loads of new Youtube content from myself and Teach Me Music as we've just purchased a Go Pro HERO 4 camera. Extreme close up of those bass fingers, drum sticks and everything else from Keyboard, Guitar, Vocals and Band performances. Finally, I was part of a music video yesterday. The shoot was for an unreleased Paul Menel and The Essentials single from the upcoming album 'Spare parts for broken hearts'. I can't wait to see the final product as this was my first time acting. I've done live videos but nothing to a script where I have to play a role. It was definitely an experience.
I had the Teach Me Music Academy all to myself for most of the day today. We had tutors coming in later in the evening to teach but I had my own private practice space. Although I wouldn't say with any confidence that I can play Keyboard or Drums but I had some practice behind the kit and ivories.
Of course I took a selfie as well. Who wouldn't ![]() This week has definitely seen the business side of my life take over. Trying to write a business plan while teaching and gigging all weekend and all week is extremely stressful. It's done now but it was so much work. Luckily I have the comfort of knowing my Fender Modern Player Jazz V will be going to a friend in exchange for a Warwick. This is exciting, can't wait to have a blast on my new bass. ![]() Teach Me Music became one with the Kidderminster crowds today at the market. Every Thursday Kidderminster has a giant market and this week, TMM had a stall to advertise, promote and spread the word of our academy and business. It was amazing and we thank everyone that was involved and everyone that came to talk to us during the day. |
